Through Trusti, you can take out basic car insurance policies – civil liability and comprehensive insurance. Civil liability insurance is mandatory for all car owners in Bulgaria and covers damage caused to third parties. Comprehensive insurance is voluntary insurance that protects your car in the event of traffic accidents, theft, natural disasters, and other risks.

Buying insurance online

After payment, your sticker and green card will be delivered by courier (Econt) within 2 business days to the address or office you have chosen.

Yes. You will receive a reminder 45 days before the policy expires, along with information on how to take out a new one.

Insurance coverage begins on the date specified in the policy.

The policy is issued immediately upon receipt of payment or on the specific start date specified in the document.

Policy and Coverage

Civil liability insurance is mandatory for all vehicles in Bulgaria. It covers damage that the vehicle owner may cause to third parties – property damage, bodily injury, or death.

Property damage, such as repair or replacement of damaged property.

It is important to note that civil liability insurance does not cover damage to your car or your own injuries. For these risks, you need additional comprehensive insurance.

After taking out the insurance, you will receive a copy of the policy by email. You can always download it from your personal profile on Trusti.

If you are involved in an insurance event outside the country, you must provide a valid green card and notify the local authorities.

It is valid throughout the European Union, as well as in Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. Individual countries may have specific requirements, so it is advisable to check these before traveling.

You do not need to terminate the MTPL insurance, when selling a car, it is necessary for the new owner to issue a supplement.

Claims

If your car is stolen, you must immediately report it to the police by calling 112 or going to the nearest police station. In addition, you must notify your insurance company within 24 hours.

In case of an insurance event you should:

1. Notify the police and report the accident. They will draw up a report, which you will need.2.Fill out a bilateral report for the traffic accident (if applicable). 3. Visit the insurance company of the driver at fault or contact your insurer.

The insurance claim is submitted directly to the insurance company of the driver at fault. This can be done online via the company's website, by email, or in person at their office.

If the civil liability insurance premium has not been paid, the policy is considered invalid. In this case, the damages and expenses resulting from the accident will not be covered by the insurer and you will bear full financial responsibility.

Usually, the deadline for reviewing an insurance claim is up to 15 days after all necessary documents have been submitted. In more complex cases, it may take longer.

In most cases, the following are required: a police report, a bilateral report (if applicable), photos of the damage, details of those involved, and a completed insurer form.

Canceling your MTPL

Yes, you can cancel your civil liability insurance at any time, regardless of the reason.

To terminate the policy, you must contact your insurer and state your wish to cancel. You must provide a reason, such as selling the car or switching to a new insurer. After submitting the documents, the insurer will cancel the policy and inform you of any refund of the unused portion of the premium.

Yes. If you have paid the premium and terminate the policy early, you are entitled to a refund of the unused portion of the amount. The insurer will notify you of the exact amount and how to receive it.
